About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Featuring the hit singles "Beauty and the Beast," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "If You Asked Me To," Celine Dion's self-titled follow-up to her successful American debut is even stronger and more accomplished. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

June 16, 2008: As much as I like If You Asked Me To, Beauty and the Beast and the funky Love Can Move Mountains, the rest of Celine Dion's 1992 album fails to match to those quality songs. The pace of the album is surprisingly BORING and DULL! After Love Can Move Mountains is 5 straight ballads back to back. Celine's got a great voice, but a majority of the ballads come off as light, airy, and bland. Walter Afanasieff and David Foster and a few other producers have the music so overly slick it's scary. And the Diane Warren written songs come off as sappy as your typical Hallmark card commercial. To me, Celine got better on her later albums Colour of Our Love, Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love, albums that had greater material and musical depth. Most of this '92 album doesn't hold up today like her songs from '93, '96 or '97. Or her superior 1990 US debut. So I would pass on this album if you want to hear her earlier songs.

April 12, 2008: I have several of her CDs and of them all this is my very favorite. It will touch you emotionally and her voice is just beautiful. I usually have a few favorite songs on a CD but this one is ALL good.
