About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

In September 2003, pop/adult contemporary group Casting Crowns released their self-titled debut. After hearing one of their independent projects, Sawyer Brown's Mark Miller signed the band -- composed of members Mark Hall (lead vocals), Chris Huffman (bass), Melodee DeVevo (violin/vocals), Juan DeVevo (guitars/vocals), Andy Williams (drums), Megan Garrett (keys/vocals), and Hector Cervantes (guitars/vocals) -- to the label he founded, Beach Street Records. The album is comparable to releases by CCM veteran Steven Curtis Chapman, Caedmon's Call, and Phillips, Craig & Dean. The project, produced by Miller and Chapman, features ten tracks aimed at encouraging and challenging the body of Christ. "If We Are the Body" examines the inner circles within churches that can leave newcomers feeling unwelcome, while "Voice of Truth" speaks of obeying God despite fear. Additional songs include "Who Am I" and "What If His People Prayed." ~ Ashleigh Kittle Slater, All Music Guide All Music Guide

November 25, 2008: This is one of those CDs you will definitely find yourself singing along to. All the songs have the ability to get you singing, with clean lyrics. Family approved, this is one CD that everyone in the family will love to listen to. If you like Contemporary Christian music you will like this CD very much. Great for letting people know about the message of Christ and opening your eyes to what the message of Christ is about. Musically, there is a lot of talent, and the message comes across. The songs will touch you spiritually, the lyrics are original in that they make you think about life. Overall, an enjoyable CD to add to your collection. Fans of Michael W. Smith will love this CD.
If you pay attention to the lyrics you may find that it is more than just a catchy tune.
The main reason for 4/5 stars: once you hear one song, you can guess how the next one will sound. Easy on the ears, but follows the same formula.

I Also Recommend: Healing Rain.

September 08, 2005: This is a terrific CD. I am sick and tired of Christians who can't sing thinking, that once they are saved, they suddenly have the God-given talent to sing! I am also tired of buying a CD and hearing the same old songs (re-makes) that I have on a half dozen other CD's. These guys (and gals) were born with talent and their CD is full of fresh music and lyrics. I thought the last song was out of place. It just didn't "fit" with the rest of the songs. Also, I really wish Mark Hall would free the other musicians to show their talents in the form of guitar solos. After all, their talent is just as God-given as his. Why not show it to us without him singing over it?
