July 18, 2003: I am not sure what album this reviewer was listening to, but I can assure you it was not Maynard Ferguson "Carnival". This album is the perfect introduction to Maynard's music and has some outstanding stratospheric playing from the master. The catchy (albeit sugary pop) tunes are hard to get out of your mind and the title song is a pure masterpiece.
