About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Not one to rest on his laurels, Daryl Hall followed Hall & Oates's 2003 comeback disc, Do It for Love, by releasing his fourth solo album in 23 years. Slightly straying from his blue-eyed soul roots, the 11 songs on Can't Stop Dreaming are infused with a touch of smooth jazz. From the opening cut, "Cab Driver" -- with its Kirk Whalum–flavored saxophone runs -- this Philly native delivers a soothing, radio-ready record. The kind of crooner who rose to popularity belting R&B-tinged songs such as "Sara Smile" and "She's Gone" (the latter is resurrected here with a slightly softer and slower arrangement), Hall does well sinking his teeth into delicate ballads such as the lush "What's in Your World" and the equally melodic "Hold On to Me," penned with Celine Dion collaborator Walter Afanasieff. Hall, however, doesn't completely forsake his more pop-driven sound, as evidenced by the synthesizer-soaked dance cut "Never Let Me Go" and "Fools Rush In," a funk track reminiscent of Steely Dan. It seems that as long as Hall keeps dreaming, his classic songs will brighten his fans' waking hours. Dave Gil de Rubio, Barnes & Noble

May 12, 2007: I have always like Daryl Hall when he did his thing with John Oates. But this cd took it to another level for me. I think I was having one of the worst work days of my life and they played "Cabdriver" on the jazz station. Ever since that moment ,I had been on a constant hunt to find this cd. "Cabdriver" has to the be the HARDEST jazz song ever recorded. Me and my dad constantly fight over this cd. I think it's an excellent cd to add to any music collection. Rap, R&B, Jazz, Rock, whatever. "Can't Stop Dreaming" is in there with the best of them. I love his music! It flawlessly transcends age, race and whatever barriers that are out there. Thanks, Daryl Much Love

March 25, 2006: There isn't one bad song on this CD, I haven't listen to him since the 80's, his voice has finally aged to perfection. I don't care for Our Kind of Soul, but I would advise you to listen to the tracks on BN.com and buy it. CAN"T STOP DREAMING
