About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The year was 1996, and with the release of his tenth album, GETTIN' IT, Oakland-bred rap legend Too $hort shocked the hip-hop world by announcing his retirement. But, surprise, it didn't last long. After re-negotiating with his label, Jive Records, and getting his own imprint, $hort Records, rap's reigning pimp has returned with the aptly titled CAN'T STAY AWAY. Never straying far from his patented hit-making formula, $hort's songs, like "You Might Get G'eed" (featuring Daz, E-40 & Soopa Fly) and "What Happened to the Groupies" (featuring B-Legit), are fitting additions to his catalogue of raunchy material. Able to mesh the new with the old (three of $hort's mid-80's standards are updated here: "Don't Stop Rappin'," "Freaky Tales," and, yes, "Invasion of the Flat Booty Bitches"), Todd Shaw's solid new album proves that his career shows no signs of slowing down.
