About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Returning to action after a six-year lull, Vertical Horizon head into some new territory on Burning the Days, moving in two separate directions: getting softer and sweeter on the slowest songs, while selling the drama on their harder numbers. Vertical Horizon still favor an immaculate production, which tends to make the proggier elements sound a little like a gentler latter-day Peter Gabriel, yet these numbers also benefit greatly from the thunder Rush drummer Neil Peart brings. Peart drums on a quarter of the album's 12 tracks, even penning the lyrics to the closing "Even Now," and he gives these tracks considerable force, pushing the amiable group toward a bolder, aggressive palette. These colors are all the brighter when compared to the rest of the record, where Vertical Horizon strum and whisper, creating warm, pleasant vibes. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

October 11, 2009: Songs that get stuck in your head for days.... Isn't that what we all look for in music? That elusive CD that runs through our heads even when the electronics are turned OFF? That's what I've found with this CD, and several others by Vertical Horizon. Songs that just get stuck in my head. CD's that don't have a song that I want to automatically skip over. CD's that I like EVERY song. Hard to find. Take a listen. Listen two or three times. If you aren't willing to buy it first, go to the band's Facebook page and listen to the preview a few times. Trust me. You'll buy it. It will haunt you. Amazing music, haunting lyrics, indescribable genre. Are they rock? Alternative? 90's? Pop? Who cares. I love this CD! Far from their accoustic roots, more rock than accoustic. Palpable emotion in the lyrics, and powerful shifts in the music move from soft and slow to hard and driving as only VH can do. Take a listen.
