July 03, 2005: This was something that I thought I would never find. That was to find a live recording that Bernstein did back in the 1960's. I thought he didn't do them back then. Well, I was lucky. This performance from Apr.6, 1962 is a very unique performance of this work. Every note in the piano solo part is heard very clearly. The tempos in the first movement are slower that one might expect. Maestoso and Poco pui moderato are the two tempo markings in the first movement. In this performance the times in this performance are 25'49, 13'45, 13'47. That is a total of 53 minutes. Buy this.
