About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Barenaked Ladies' third album, Born on a Pirate Ship, was recorded during a period of personnel instability and misgivings over the band's artistic direction. The Toronto group attempts humor in the manner of 1992's Gordon and include reworked versions of early material like "Shoe Box," which had originally appeared on the band's 1990 demo. The wistful "The Old Apartment" and the tender Robertson ballad "When I Fall" further develop the group's ability to wring tenderness and angst out of unexpected situations. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide All Music Guide

CLEVER!by Anonymous

January 03, 2002: The Barenaked Ladies are so funny and witty! They know exactly what they want to sing about and they cleverly craft all of their songs. The songs are packed with so many words, and if you really listen, you might just nod your head and say, ''hey, this is good!''

January 29, 2001: Born On A Pirate Ship is an awesome album to have. It is fun and sad at the same time. The way BNL make fun of life is an amazing talent, they are a spirited band I highly reccommend having everything they have done.
