About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

With his third album, BOOK OF THUGS: CHAPTER AK VERSUS 47, Trick Daddy solidifies his rep as a writin', rhymin', raunchin' triple threat. Picking up where the grimy storytelling of his debut disc, BASED ON A TRUE STORY, and its follow-up, WWW.THUG.COM, left off, Trick Daddy delivers a tightly produced collection of tracks that are as appropriate for a late-night grocery store stickup as they are for a Friday night romp at a trendy Miami club. The album's highlight, "Shut Up," has all the ingredients -- including silver-tongued guest lyricist Trina and a sharp, sing-along hook -- that made Trick's runaway single, "Nann Nigga," such an infectious hit. Essentially, it's the same winning formula that makes BOOK OF THUGS as invigoratingly ghetto-fabulous as his other efforts. Trick Daddy chronicles the finer things in (his) life: mo money, mo cash, mo hoes. But somehow, even when he's at his most depraved, you can't help but shake your rump, albeit Miami hoochie-mama style. Just when the hip-hop nation attempted to (once again) sleep on Miami as a hip-hop hot spot, Trick Daddy turns that theory inside out. Aliya S. King Barnes & Noble
