About This Item

It’s a book, a CD, a way of being. It is, yes, all new original songs, but the captivatingly carefree sound comes straight out of the ’50s and early ’60s. And among the performers are---hang on to your hat--many of the legendary recording artists of that legendary time: Neil Sedaka, B B King, Bobby Vee, Brian Wilson, Davy Jones, Gerry & the Pacemakers, and Steve Lawrence. Whoa.

As Good As "Philadelphia Chickens"by AmyOG

June 21, 2009: Didn't think this CD could top my and my kid's experience with Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford's "Philadelphia Chickens" - but it did! Like "Chickens," "Blue Moo" is a far cry from the usual kiddie fare. It introduces its young listeners to the style of blues, crooner's songs, the march, tango and funk. On top of the once again very original and very funny lyrics, you'll hear many of the artists who helped define these musical styles re-create them to great success on this CD. Yes! B.B. King sings "One Shoe Blues" to name just one of many, many favorites. I now use "Blue Moo" and "Philadelphia Chickens" as birthday and graduation gifts for 4-7 year olds.

Another Sandra Boynton Hit!by Donna_Quixote

April 13, 2009: We love Sandra's Boynton's books and music releases, and this was a hit the moment it was played. It is cute and witty, and all of the pieces are takeoffs on 50's style rock hits, in many cases sung by the people known for that style. My daughter LOVES it, and my husband and I also enjoy it. I highly recommend it.
