About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Thirteen years after recording their debut, the Innocence Mission remains an island of calm, a beacon of hope in a chaotic world. From the quiet city of Lancaster, PA, the three members of the Innocence Mission make their music, all of it exalting love and friendship, peace and joy. Here, group founders and songwriters Don Peris (guitar/vocals) and Karen Peris (vocals/guitar/piano), along with Mike Bitts (bass), have handcrafted their fourth album, Birds of My Neighborhood. Karen Peris was also featured on Natalie Merchant's album Ophelia, adding her mystical voice on a few tracks. ~ Amanda Nusbaum, All Music Guide All Music Guide

December 03, 2000: Voice with Music. Sounds simple enough, but the innocence mission has once again taken me to a place in my heart I visit to rarely. From the opening words of the album ''We, will walk on a hill'', to the last lyrics ''Red tree, go on'', I'm taken to a haven of contentment! There's nothing innocent about allowing the listener to dream a simple happy dream. My favorite song is ''Snow'', which although I live in San Diego, makes me feel like I'm in a warm cabin in the woods. This would DEFINITELY be your choice for clean, positive, yet haunting contentment. BUY IT!! :-?
