About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Keb’ Mo’ is particularly suited for a children’s recording because his performance style is easy yet animated. He’s not afraid to sound a touch corny or nostalgic and can fill touchy-feely lyrics with passion and humor. Big Wide Grin, which is on the Sony Wonder kids’ label, finds Mo' turning the soul classics “Love Train,” and “Grandma’s Hands” into acoustic homages to family. “Isn’t She Lovely” and “Color Him Father” become sweet ballads in his hands, while Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi,” which features Mo’s son Kevin Jr. dueting, is transformed into a folksy ode to conservation. Slim and Slam’s “Flat Fleet Floogie,” “America the Beautiful,” and a pair of Mo' originals about adoption and feeling free round out the set, making. Big Wide Grin a laid-back family affair. January 05, 2002: When I bought this CD I didn't know it was being promoted as a children's CD. I just bought it because I love Keb Mo. I was so suprised that my children enjoy it as much as I do and not suprised to find out it was being promoted for children. The songs are very upbeat, feel good and most have a catchy tune to sing along with. My two year old loves Big Yellow Taxi. I can't pick a favorite. There's some great remakes and some beautiful song about being a parent without being the birth parent. In today's times, it's feels good to listen to Big Wide Grin!
