About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The OperaBabes are Karen England and Rebecca Knight, a British duo of classically trained singers who give a new twist to old favorites on Beyond Imagination. Once found "busking" outside London's Covent Garden opera house, the two have already soared to stardom in England and are set to charm the States with the American release of their album. Beginning with "One Fine Day," an edgy update of Puccini's "Un bel di" from Madama Butterfly that features a Japanese drum ensemble, the disc continues with a haunting version of Delibes's famous "Fower Duet" ("Lakmé H2O"), as well as fresh takes on other popular arias and familiar themes by Beethoven, Grieg, Dvorák, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky. August 12, 2009: They have beautiful voices and perform nice updates to old classics. You cannot compare them to Mediaeval Babes, Enya or Deep Forest as they are all different types of music as I own several albums by each. These are simply updated opera classics that are definitely worth listening to and may make you want to explore the world of opera a little bit more.

February 09, 2009: Not into opera, but loved the version of Lakme "Flower Duet" heard on CSI-Miami and Ghirardelli chocolates. I found it on OperaBabes 'Beyond Imagination' after a year searching and buying other versions. After listening to the entire CD I fell in love with OperaBabes and would like to hear more of their music. Very beautiful music.
