About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Scotland's Proclaimers got a belated number three hit with their four-year-old "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" when it was taken up as the theme song of this offbeat romantic comedy. The rest of the soundtrack album features Rachel Portman's score, which emphasizes the movie's whimsical nature. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide

June 26, 2004: Oh I can't tell you how wonderful this soundtrack is! I first fell in love with the score when I was 8 and we used it in my ballet class, though I had no idea where it came from. I've always remembered that fondly and recently I happened to rent Benny & Joon after my friend recomended it and low and behoold I fell off the couch when, after '500 miles' ,came that beloved whirly melody that had always been in the corner of my mind. During the film I could hardly concentrate due to the on going twirls and dips of the familiar music with memories of spinning 'round the stage running through my mind. To anyone who is considering purchasing this please listen to all the samples and I think pretty soon you'll be spiraling and prancing about your computer chair too.
