The first two installments in the award-winning Beethoven's Wig series proved such a hit with kids and parents that a third was almost inevitable. Well, here it is, stocked with another dose of unforgettable classical melodies glossed with hilariously inspired lyrics. This time, in addition to the wacky singing, each track spotlights a different solo instrument, expanding on the overall aim of instruction through entertainment. First off is the trumpet, playing along to Bizet's "Toreador" Song from Carmen as the singers advise: "Please keep your bull outside the china shop / No bulls allowed, that's where they stop." Further numbers focus on the French horn, bass, clarinet, flute, and several others, with each instrument contributing a well-loved tune from classical masters like Beethoven, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky. To give tots a taste of the originals, the second half of the CD offers instrument-only reprises of each tune, while the accompanying booklet includes full lyrics, a trivia quiz, and suggested activities. Recommended for ages four and older, Beethoven's Wig 3 presents another fun-filled opportunity for little listeners to get hooked on the classics, and it'll keep grownups in stitches, too.
