Not really a various-artists compilation, this mini box set actually consists of three separate JSP albums that were originally issued on vinyl back in the 1980s. Featuring individual efforts by Jimmy Dawkins, Brewer Phillips, and Lefty Dizz, these three solo sessions have all been remastered and, in some cases, even remixed -- with sparkling results. Each of these artists deserves a wider hearing, and this set makes that possible, putting a lot of raw blues in one place at a nice price. Cub Koda, All Music Guide
