This little gem is one of four volumes based on the Preludes and Fugues from J.S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1, that Lewis recorded in the mid-to late-1980s. Maintaining the artistic sensibility and integrity of Bach, Lewis introduces a jazz feel to the compositions. He lets them swing and even improvises within Bach's temperament. Lewis's piano leads the way with viola, violin, guitar and bass accompaniment, and the result is truely sublime. I highly recommend all four volumes, but Vol. 2 is my favorite. Definitely one of my ''desert island disks''!!
