About this Artist
Editorial Reviews
Raffi is the king of children's performers, and with good reason. His unerring instinct for subjects that captivate young kids, his catchy melodies, and endearing voice account for a big part of his renown. And his overarching respect for children as human beings is absolutely vital to Raffi's appeal, too. All these elements are in play in BABY BELUGA, one of the best-loved of all Raffi's albums. The title track, a sweet and simple salute to a small white whale and its environment, is already a classic. In fact, BABY BELUGA is chock-full of Raffi favorites, including the sprightly farming tune "Oats and Beans and Barley," the laid-back hymn of gratitude "Thanks a Lot," and the multilingual friendship tune "To Everyone in All the World." The Raffmeister also covers venerable children's songs such as "Day O," "Over in the Meadow," "Kumbaya," and "This Old Man." Especially heartwarming is album closer "Morningtown Ride," by folk legend Malvina Reynolds ("Little Boxes"), a dear lullaby that compares a night's slumber to a dawn-bound train ride. BABY BELUGA should be a keystone of any family music library. Moira McCormick, Barnes & Noble
