About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Saxophonist Dave Koz could feature his own mellifluous horn on a program of beloved film music and produce a highly satisfying album, but the addition of first-class singers on At the Movies acts as icing on the cake. Joining Koz are Barry Manilow, Vanessa Williams, India Arie, Johnny Mathis, Donna Summer, and Anita Baker, each of whom adds luster to this superbly produced album. The star power obviously inspires the leader; this smooth-jazz icon has rarely sounded as assured and passionate. Under the sure guidance of legendary producer Phil Ramone, Koz -- with support from his A-list vocal crew -- has turned in a sterling entertainment. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

April 13, 2009: I happened to PBS one evening between the NCAA basketball playoffs, and was excited to find the genius of Dave Koz being presented. The show was great and Dave's rundown of the songs and his inspiration for doing them was very interesting, and made the show really tie together. He is truly a genius with the saxophone, and the show was a delight.

I couldn't wait to buy this CD and listen to it on my hourly drive each day! The quality is great and Dave's arrangements are both soulful and interpretive! And who doesn't love a good show tune!

My only complaint was that several of the songs from the show were not included on the CD (i.e., Alfie). And while seeing Dave perform the songs adds a tremendous dimension and "feeling" to the song itself, the music is perfect. I may not have picked the same mix for the CD, but nonetheless, it is fantastic!!

July 12, 2007: I had the pleasure of seeing Dave Koz perform at the Keswick Theater in Pennsylvania in June - one of the best jazz concerts I've ever seen. Just the sheer energy and talent made me feel like I was in heaven. He played a great medley of songs from this album, accompanied by a great band and a wonderful young singer, Kelly Sweet. We bought the CD that night and I just finished listening. If you are a smooth jazz/movie/Dave Koz fan, this is for you. The addition of talented singers like Anita Baker, Vanessa Williams, Johnny Mathis and another great jazz musician, Peter White, makes this album a "must-hear". It's cool that there are vocal clips from some of the movies, too! A nice combination of past and present. Super!!
