About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Ambient composers Paul Schwartz and Mario Grigorov add their electronic melodies to selected opera arias on this album. Popular melodies from Carmen, Madame Butterfly, The Magic Flute, Dido, Aeneas, and more are used here. The final effect is striking, though these classic themes may be enhancing the Schwartz- Grigonoz creations more than they are helping the arias. A product of renowned Abbey Road Studio #1, all the operatic vocals were recorded live in this acoustically superb environment. This shows the creator's respect for the time-tested gems they are setting. It comes as no surprise that Schwartz was Andre Previn's assistant conductor with the Pittsburgh Symphony and musical director for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phanton of the Opera. Grigorov is a pianist and composer who is as comfortable in jazz and classical music as is in rock and electronica. Aria is sublime and rewarding. Tom Schulte, All Music Guide

March 16, 2007: This CD is outstanding. I bought all three, Aria, Aria 2, and Aria 3. It is so well done and the voice of the soprano is not the canary in the birdcage. I can't stop listening to any of the 3 albums. The packaging is well worth the price. Buy all three (ISBN 99923 57852) in a set if you can.

June 27, 2001: That is exactly what this CD will do to you, once you fill your home with its magnificent energy. I am in love with the entire compilation, my favorite being,''Un Bel Di'', adapted of course from Madame Butterfly. The blend of new age and the classical opera creates an ambient pop fusion rebirth. Another keeper in my books and truly a winner... do you want to transport yourself out of the ordinary??? Get the CD....it will bring your ship in!~
