An Introduction to Jimmy Reed that doesn't include his Vee Jay-era standards -- "Baby, What You Want Me to Do," "Bright Lights, Big City," "Honest I Do," "You Don't Have to Go," "Going to New York," "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby" -- definitely isn't one! This material is culled from Reed's late-'60s recordings on ABC Bluesway, a period when his alcoholism and epilepsy caught up with him, naturally affecting the quality of his work. A bit of Reed's signature swamp blues via the Windy City sound manages to shine through occasionally, but in no way should these cuts be qualified as an introduction. Les Campbell, All Music Guide
