Editorial Reviews

Don't blame Brad Paisley if the one-liners and joke songs are a bit thinner on the ground on American Saturday Night. Like a certain ex-president who abstained from golf during wartime, the country superstar felt that with the economy in free-fall, two wars raging, and a crisis in healthcare, it just wasn't the time to be checking anybody for ticks. (Well, as a healthcare initiative, that might just have legs...) So after a diverting instrumental set, now comes Paisley's turn as a more serious songwriter. Sure, Paisley albums have always come stocked with a tear-jerker or two, but Saturday Night makes a study of whistful melancholy on songs such as "Then" and "Water," and strikes a chord for the ages on "Welcome to the Future," which is possibly the most Obama-friendly song ever played on country radio. Fortunately for Nashville, there's a good dose of bipartisan patriotism with the title track, and a signature he-said / she-said riff on "The Pants," showing that even on weekends, it's all in a day's work for Brad Paisley. Brad Paisley--just getting better.by bcDF

November 04, 2009: Sometimes I'll listen to one of Brad's CDs for weeks without changing CDs. He just gets better with every CD. I love the "old radio" type dramas as the last track with Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson, Dolly Parton, and lately Vince Gill. What happens to George Jones?

October 10, 2009: Well, he's done it again! I own almost all of Brad Paisley's CDs, and everytime he comes out with a new one, it's my "new favorite." He has songs for everyone, romantic songs, sad songs, funny songs, and even instrumental songs. If you are a Brad Paisley fan I reccomend this CD!

It is obvious that Brad Paisley has a deep passion and understanding of how music effects people. When listening to this CD I go from laughing during "Anything Like Me" to crying during "Then" and "Everybodys Here" and back to laughing again with "Catch all the Fish" and "Pants." I bought this CD in August and still listen to it at least once a week.

I Also Recommend: Mud on the Tires, Time Well Wasted, 5th Gear [Bonus Track].
