Editorial Reviews

Abe Duque takes the baton from Tiga -- who mixed 2001's American Gigolo -- and mixes tracks released by DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolo throughout the past few years. The tracks that thrill the most tend to be the ones that are most left of center: the Dirty Criminals' "Are You Saved?," Freaks' "The Creeps," Abe Duque's remix of Elbee Bad's "New Age of House," and Duque's own careening "What You Gonna Do." The inclusion of Dominatrix's "The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight" (reissued in 2003) is a fitting acknowledgment of one of the label's inspirations. While not a lot has changed in the IDG world (hybrids of new wave, electro, early house, and techno remain the rule), it has maintained its consistency since the first American Gigolo mix.
