Editorial Reviews

The Mississippi Mass Choir have been one of gospel music's most popular choirs since their inception in 1988. Their release, Amazing Love, finds the choir continuing their mission to break new ground. Guest vocalist Lecrecia Campbell unleashes her soaring soprano on the beautifully arranged "Lord You're Holy." The choir has always been noted for energy-charged, up-tempo material. They do nothing to disappoint, as can be witnessed through their high-powered performance on the track "Holding On." The choir displays their patriotic spirit through a moving arrangement of "America the Beautiful." A Mississippi Mass Choir project would not be complete without an inspirational spoken-word message from Rev. Benjamin Cone. He delivers the goods on the sermonic "A Widow's Love." To pay homage to the choir's founder, the late Frank Williams, producer Jerry Mannery took a page out of the Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole book by electronically pulling Williams' voice from a song he originally recorded with the Georgia Mass Choir entitled "My God Said It." Mannery placed Williams' voice with the newly recorded version of the song by the Mississippi Mass Choir. This should undoubtedly become a classic. ~ Tim A. Smith, All Music Guide All Music Guide
