October 31, 2007: I loved Ms. Lincoln prior to having heard this CD but she has outdone herself! If you love jazz and an earthy sounding woman who through her voice tells you that she's been there and done that don't miss this! Magnificent work of art. Ms. Lincoln is a griot you will remember for the rest of your life!

February 24, 2003: A Turtle's Dream and Betty Carter's The Audience with Betty Carter are (in my humble opinion) the two best jazz vocal albums of the end of the 20th century. This is Lincoln's finest work (and her most recent disk is stellar.) Down Here Below is a masterpiece. If you are debating? TAKE THE CHANCE! There is no risk here.
