One adjective that you will never hear in connection with A Little Voodoo is "under-produced." Whether a song was produced by Peter Moshay and T-Bone Wolk, Paul Bryan, Jerry Marotta, or Grey Eye Glances themselves, this alternative pop/rock/adult alternative effort sounds extremely produced. But for all its slickness and studio gloss, A Little Voodoo really does have a lot of heart. Lead singer Jennifer Nobel's warmth and vulnerability always comes through, and the lyrics are consistently personal-sounding. Throughout the CD, it is obvious that the producers are there to serve Grey Eye Glances -- not the other way around. The honey-voiced Nobel and her colleagues never sound like producers' puppets; they sound like they are in the driver's seat, whether the producer is Marotta on "Good Folks" and "Oh, No" or Bryan on "The One" and "Close Your Eyes." And that would explain why this album is as consistent as it is -- the producers knew what type of vision Grey Eye Glances had for this album, and they helped them achieve it. In many cases, a label will hire several different producers for the same album because it is trying to cover as many bases as possible; different producers will produce different types of songs with different radio formats in mind. But on A Little Voodoo, Grey Eye Glances sees to it that there is a certain continuity. Could A Little Voodoo have used more spontaneity? Without a doubt. But because the writing is as strong as it is -- and because the album sounds so darn good -- one can live with that lack of spontaneity. All things considered, A Little Voodoo is a fine addition to Grey Eye Glances' catalog. Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

January 28, 2004: Was voodoo magic involved in the writing and recording of the latest studio album by Philadelphia area band Grey Eye Glances? Perhaps “A Little.” What else could explain the conjuring of perfect instrumentation, harmonies, and lyrics? The CD starts out with “Close Your Eyes,” more of a rock tune in the folk-rock genre the band occupies. If you attend a live show, Dwayne Keith, keyboarder, background vocalist, and primary songwriter, would comment that this song was written about the book The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. The chorus echoes, “close your eyes, we are buildings, we’re so amazing, close your eyes, we are movement, we’re all-inspiring…” Anyone who has read the book knows these sentiments sing of Ayn’s philosophy. A well-rounded, literate, and musically adept band - intriguing, isn’t it? The tempo is kept at a steady pace with the next 2 songs, “Oh No,” a song new to this album, and “If I Was,” a recap of an old favorite about the lengths we go to in order to be close to the object of our affection, or should I say, obsession? The first slow song on the CD is a new one, called “The One.” A self-proclaimed love song, it captures perfectly the moment when love is born into an unsuspecting situation. Half-way through the CD you land on “Big Red Boat,” the dancy, sing-along single from this album. You can’t help but join in singing…”la da da da, la da da da, …I’m building a big red boat, building a big red boat, with full intentions to set sail…” The rocking pace is kept up by “He and She.” The poetic soul of GEG is bared once again in another oldie but a GOODIE, “Even.” It is one of my favorites, but let the lyrics speak for themselves…”the figure in the mirror’s searching for some perspective from some healer anyway, we both play games we despise. And should they come to bring you just a small bit closer to yourself, remember we are neither of us wise…” A dreamer’s anthem, the second to last song, “Keep On,” will inspire you to push for that extra mile when things look dark. Rounding out this excellent offering is, “All Because of You,” a nostalgic look at love and life. If you are a fan of flowing melodies, poetry, and angelic voices akin to Sarah McLachlan, you owe it to yourself to get this CD and become acquainted with this intense and poetic band. And if you like what you hear, go see them when they come to your state, and buy the rest of their catalog of CDs, you won't be sorry!!

August 28, 2002: Grey Eye Glances is a really great band both live and on disc. This is a CD that gets into your player and never seems to leave. This is their 6 th CD () and their third national release. Two of their previous albums have been in the top 50 albums of the year on WXPN in Phila, and WXPN is calling this their best CD yet. I agree wholeheartedly. One month after its release they chose it as featured Album of the Week. KINK-FM, in Portland, Oregon, did the same thing shortly afterwards. The album has really fun, fast tunes (Big Red Boat, If I Was), an 80's style rock tune (He and She), Some very modern sounding tunes that are better than most of what you hear on mainstream radio (Close Your Eyes, Keep On, The One, Oh No) and some more mellow tunes (Good Folks, All Because of You). The band is tight, the writing is inspired, and the vocals are provocative, sensual and dynamic. Vocally think Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Kate Bush, Poe, etc. One noted music editor has described them ?Audrey Hepburn fronting Genesis?. It's a great CD to turn your friends on to and then listen to them say ?why haven't I heard of this band before?? - but I have a feeling that with the release of ?A Little Voodoo? it won?t be long before everyone has heard of them.
