Editorial Reviews

Released in conjunction with the airing of the television show of the same name, A&E Biography offers an incomplete but informative overview of Bobby Darin's recordings for Capitol Records. Although the compilation is limited by its reliance on a single label -- Darin recorded many terrific rock & roll songs for Atlantic -- many of his great moments as a Sinatra-style crooner and folksinger are here, including "Mack the Knife," "Beyond the Sea," and "If I Were a Carpenter." They're backed by numerous other fine performances, all of which adds up to a solid sampler designed for casual fans. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
