'80s Hits Back is an enjoyable scattershot collection of 12 Top Ten hits from the '80s. The compilation doesn't follow any strict genre -- there are new wave hits like Oingo Boingo's "Weird Science," and Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance," Katrina & the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine," as well as late-'80s pop-soul like Was (Not Was)'s "Walk the Dinosaur" and mainstream pop like Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy," and Wang Chung's "Everybody Have Fun Tonight." It's a fun collection, but it's not very cohesive. If you want to own just a few of these songs, it's a good purchase, but serious collectors should concentrate on more comprehensive collections like the 15-volume Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of the '80 series.
