Following Big Tymers' Hood Rich on up the charts, Lil Wayne's third album tries to trump the big Cash Money hit by ex-labelmate Juvenile (400 Degreez). With the smooth, laid-back productions of Mannie Fresh leading the way for Wayne's drawling delivery, 500 Degreez does just that. Yes, it's a little top-heavy, but the highlights come quickly, with the leadoff (after the intro) "Look at Me" sporting a freakfest vibe along with Fresh's top-flight beats. The whole album's powered by the infectious party hit "Way of Life," building on the rocksteady rhythm of Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid in Full." Even better is "Gangsta Shit," a synth-heavy roller with Petey Pablo besting even Wayne himself on the mic. John Bush, All Music Guide

September 27, 2002: alright 500 degreez is the hottest c.d out now.if u buy this c.d you wont be sorry for real yo.the way weezy baby add lyrics to Mannie Fresh sick wit it beat is a combo that cant be denied they are also very niece to they fans i am lucky enough to be there # 1 and i also know them every time they come to Ny I always chill wit them like the song "youngn blues" weezy has a slow flow but great lyrcis like "all she ever wanted for young weezy to love her, and he ever wanted was to come easy and dump her ,but that didn't come easy because she ended up being my baby mother ,so then I felt sumthered" man this guy is the greatest the big Tymerz and lil wayne got this rap game on lock fo shezzy
