About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Twenty years following their self-titled debut disc, the Hombres G release their tenth original release, aptly titled 10. Widely regarded as one of Spain's most important pop groups of the late '80s and '90s, Hombres G have earned the moniker of the "Spanish Beatles." Even a casual listen to 10 may offer some answers as to why. Their typically spare instrumentation and relatively rudimentary arrangement has not so much resisted revision as stayed true to basic concepts. The production style certainly harkens to a purer age. The raw, warm timbre of the instruments is somewhere between garage band and classic. Opening track "No Puedo Apartar Mis Manos de Ti" and the sugar pop, good-times track "Me Siento Bien" evoke the raw energy of early rock. There are hints to Hombres G's modern Euro-rock surroundings, such as "Sobre Tu Respiracion" and "Multiplicados por 9," which tap in to the spare, atmospheric aesthetic favored by Coldplay and the legendary U2. Even then, it's Hombres G "doing dark." 10 is mainly another fun-loving rock album from Spain's favorite fun-loving rock band. Any confusion about that can be cleared up by the bandmember adorning the cover photo wearing a chicken mask. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, All Music Guide All Music Guide
